Well, we all survived the Blizzard of 2026 and I can’t believe it will be in the 60s next week. Spring is knocking at our door! We have a lot to share, so please enjoy all of the great things happening at EHTHS.
MariJoy Dempsey, volunteers her time playing cards with seniors at Wesley By the Bay retirement community in Ocean City, recently helped support their “Valentine’s Day for Veterans” initiative. The project assembled goodie bags for local veterans, and organizers shared that homemade cards and letters from students are especially meaningful to those who receive them. In response, EHT High School students wrote heartfelt messages of appreciation and support. We are incredibly proud to share that more than 400 cards were sent to Kathryn Speer, the project coordinator at Wesley By the Bay. We would like to thank our students and staff for their help in making this project a tremendous success.
Our Mock Trial team represented Atlantic County this week and competed at New Jersey Law Center against Camden County. They did a tremendous job, were very well prepared, but unfortunately did not prevail. We are so proud of their efforts to make EHTHS history in their tremendous successful run this year.
Last night, our CTE department hosted a Trades Expo. It was a great success and opportunity for our students and staff to showcase the tremendous opportunities we have to offer. Visitors explored hands-on demonstrations, learned about Career and Technical Education programs and connected with local trade vendors who provided information about careers and job opportunities in the trades. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate these opportunities!
Today, our WINGS team held our Upstander recognition celebration. Each week, our staff nominates students who go above and beyond in school to help others or show great integrity. We are proud of our students who continue to shine and make our school community a better place. Additionally, our Boys Swim team is also being recognized for winning the sports GPA award.
On March 4, the district will recognize Spread the Word Day, an opportunity to celebrate inclusivity, raise awareness, and promote understanding for individuals of all abilities. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as a symbol of respect, dignity, and support for people with disabilities. By participating, we demonstrate our commitment to kindness, acceptance, and creating a school environment where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered to succeed.
Good luck to girls basketball, track and wrestling as they compete this weekend.
Don’t forget, the students do not have school on Monday and an abbreviated day on Tuesday due to a district Professional Development. Have a great weekend!
