This week, our JROTC Academic Bowl team concluded its journey in the national competition after an impressive run. While the team did not advance to the in-person finals in Washington, D.C., their effort and dedication were remarkable. Only 16 Air Force high school teams qualified for the final round out of 355 teams competing in Level II, with 707 teams participating in Level I overall. The team was coached by senior Andrew Le and included Ava Gentile (9th), Naimah Saccoh (9th), Jacob Le (11th), and Jeffrey Beck (11th). We are proud of their hard work!
Congratulations also go out to the Indoor Percussion Ensemble for an outstanding performance at the Mid Atlantic Percussion Society (MAPS) competition held at Avon Grove High School in PA. They placed 3rd out of 8 schools from New Jersey and Pennsylvania with their 2026 show, “The Revolution Will Be Televised.” Special shout out to Mr. Wyckoff, Mr. Belskis, Mr. Crafts, Mr. Padayhag, Mr. Veach, and Ms. Reyes for coaching the ensemble.
This week the AP Environmental students planted the dune grass in the greenhouse. This was in coordination with the Honors Oceanography students and a first grade class from Swift. The dune grass will grow in the greenhouse for the next few weeks until we plant it in Ocean City at the end of the month.
Tonight, we are excited to host our annual Volleyball-A-Thon, organized by the Interact Club. This year’s event features 26 teams of students, staff, alumni, and community members. The Egg Harbor Township Police Department will also be participating and bringing some serious competition to the court. A special thank you goes to the Interact Club, Mr. Migliore, and Ms. Quinn for their efforts in organizing this evening that brings out the greatest competitor in all of us.
Our Student Council Book Drive is currently underway and will run from through March 13. Students are encouraged to donate gently used books to support this great initiative. For every book donated, students can earn one community service hour, with a maximum of four hours. Books should be dropped off in Mr. Bell’s room (F212) and students must clearly write their name and grade on the donation.
Please support our Unified Team by attending the annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on March 14 from 8:00–10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s in Somers Point. This event is always a great opportunity to come together as a community while supporting our students and programs.
Finally, we invite our families to join us for Passport to EHT: A Journey Through Our Cultures on March 25 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the high school. Here, we will celebrate our incredible diversity that makes Egg Harbor Township such a special community. It will be an evening where families can explore and experience cultures from around the world without ever leaving town.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Carugno
