Dear EHTHS Families,
As we begin our Spring Break, we have a lot to share from the short week.
On Saturday, nine of our students competed in the 13th Annual Math Mayhem competition at Stockton University alongside students from 12 regional high schools. This challenging event featured both individual and team rounds, and our students represented EHTHS with excellence. A special congratulations goes to junior Andrew Golley, who earned 1st place overall in the individual competition, and to junior Destiny Abreu for an impressive 10th place finish.
Our Indoor Percussion team also had an outstanding performance this past weekend at Elizabeth High School, where they earned their first 1st place finish of the season with a score of 80.81. This milestone reflects the team’s hard work, growth, and dedication throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of their progress and encourage our community to come out and support them at their final two performances.
We would also like to recognize junior Ady Elko for being named The Press of Atlantic City Swimmer of the Year. Ady’s season was nothing short of remarkable, highlighted by strong finishes at the Meet of Champions and multiple personal bests at the CAL Championships, where she was also named Swimmer of the Meet. Her leadership helped guide the Eagles to the South Jersey Group A final, and her commitment to continuous improvement sets an outstanding example for all of our student-athletes.
Our students continue to benefit from meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom. Students in AP Spanish Literature and CP/HN Hispanohablantes 3 traveled to New York City to see a live performance of La Casa de Bernarda Alba at Repertorio Español. After studying the play in class, students were able to see the themes and characters come to life on stage, followed by a visit to Times Square.
Our Deaf Education student participated in a unique field trip to Luna Soul and Bowls in Vineland, where they learned about healthy food choices while connecting with deaf and hard-of-hearing peers from Vineland schools. The experience provided both educational and social enrichment in a fun and welcoming environment.
Our Interact Club is currently leading a service project to support the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. They are collecting items to create “Birthday Cake Boxes,” giving families in need the opportunity to celebrate special occasions. Donations such as cake mix, frosting, soda, candles, and aluminum pans can be dropped off in the Main Office (Room C209 for staff/students) through April 27th. We appreciate any support in helping bring joy to families in our community.
As we head into Spring Break, we wish all of our students, families, and staff a relaxing and enjoyable time. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on April 13 as we continue to finish the school year strong.
Happy Spring Break!
Ms. Carugno
