Message from Ms. Carugno

Dear EHTHS Families,
We are proud to share that several of our students have been selected as delegates for the 2026 American Legion Jersey Boys State and Girls State programs.  Students will take part in running a simulated “51st State,” complete with political parties, campaigns, and elections. Congratulations Anastassia Mytnik and Aleah Hamid, who will represent EHTHS at Girls State, and Raymond Bonsu and Daniel Schulingkamp, who will represent us at Boys State.  We are incredibly proud of these students as they represent both our school and Atlantic County.

Our PK students enjoyed a special visit to the library in celebration of National Librarian’s Day.  Ms. Grossman captivated students with a reading of Pete the Cat Screams for Ice Cream, creating a fun day that highlighted the joy of reading and the importance of our library programs.

Senior Ella Walling continues to achieve remarkable success in competitive figure skating.  With over a decade of dedication to the sport, Ella earned her U.S. Women’s Gold Medal in Moves in the Field in October 2024 and is close to earning a second gold medal in dance.  She has also been recognized by the U.S. Figure Skating as a graduating senior gold medalist.  Ella has competed at the national level twice, earning a second-place finish and another top-20 placement.  She plans to continue her skating career at the University of Delaware.

In our classrooms, students in Ms. O’Brien’s Digital Photography classes recently partnered with our school store to photograph students modeling new merchandise. This collaboration will help showcase items featured on our online store, highlighting both student creativity and school spirit.

As part of New Jersey High School Voter Education Week, senior Caleigh Paskalides partnered with Energizing Young Voters and the Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections to provide students with an engaging lesson on the voting process.  The experience concluded with students participating in a mock election using ballot questions created by Caleigh.  We would like to thank Mr. Martirone, Mr. Kristeller, and Mr. Jacoby for supporting this civic learning opportunity.

Our Communications Academy seniors had an exciting opportunity to visit CBS Studios for a behind-the-scenes look at a live taping of CBS Mornings.  Students explored both the control room and studio, gaining insight into live production.  They also had the opportunity to interact with Gayle King and director Kelly who discussed the evolving nature of broadcast media.  We would like to thank Collin Borow for organizing this memorable experience for our students.

Finally, congratulations to Mariah Newman of our Girls Flag Football team, who was inducted into the Maxwell Football Club and received the Mini Maxwell Award.  This recognition honors her outstanding performance both on and off the field.  Mariah is one of only 29 high school athletes from PA, NJ and DE.

Have a great weekend!
Ms. Carugno

American Legion Jersey Girls and Boys State

American Legion Jersey Girls State and Boys State is a 5 to 6 day "hands on" program held at a NJ college/university each June that strives to teach young adults about the benefits of our form of government system. In addition, the program teaches citizenship and appreciation of our military and our veterans. After an extensive interview/application process, candidates selected to move forward will become official Delegates to Girls State/Boys State where they will help run a mythical "51st" State complete with political parties, campaigns and elections for all levels of government. Closing ceremonies on the final day include political guest speakers from NJ. This is generally a free program (including campus housing, meals, activities) sponsored by local American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary posts.

The following students will be our 2026 Delegates to NJ American Legion Auxiliary Girls State:
Anastassia Mytnik
Aleah Hamid

The following students will be our 2026 Delegates to NJ American Legion Boys State:
Raymond Bonsu
Daniel Schulingkamp

These students will not only represent Egg Harbor Township High School, but also Atlantic County. Congratulations to all students!

Senior Earns High Achievements in Competitive Figure Skating

Senior Ella Walling has spent more than a decade dedicated to the demanding sport of competitive figure skating, and her hard work continues to pay off in remarkable ways. In October 2024, she earned her U.S. Women’s Gold Medal in Moves in the Field—one of the highest achievements in the sport—and she is now on the verge of earning a second gold medal in dance. Recently, Ella was also recognized by U.S. Figure Skating as a graduating senior gold medalist, an honor that highlights both her athletic excellence and long-term commitment. She has competed at the national level twice, earning an impressive second-place finish and another placement in the top 20. Looking ahead, Ella hopes to continue her skating career at the University of Delaware as part of their nationally ranked team.

CLIMATE AND CULTURE

Hiking Club

Artemis II isn’t the only group to return home from an epic trip. Some of our Hiking Club adventured out to Bryce, Zion, and Grand Canyon National Parks. Along the way, they hiked trails through the parks, slid down pink the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and took a boat ride on the Colorado River. Thank you to Mr. Walter for organizing the trip, Mr. Migliore, Mr. Jacoby and Ms Maas for chaperoning.

Policy 5516- Remotely Activating Communication Devices and Electronic Devices

As we begin the new school year, we would like to take a moment to remind the school community of our district’s no cell phone policy during the school day. This decision was made with one clear purpose: to keep our students focused on learning, socializing face-to-face, and fully engaging in the classroom experience.
