On Wednesday, May 20th, 52 students from Mr. Platt, Mr. Smith, Ms. Dunlap, Mr. Belinsky, and Mr. Tridente’s Adapted Physical Education classes attended a field trip to the SJ Field of Dreams at Barry Hackett Field. Students participated in kickball games, a nature walk, and playground activities while demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills learned throughout the year. Thank you to the many paraprofessionals, staff members, nurses, administrators, and community supporters who helped make this special day possible.

Mrs. Field and Mrs. Reilly’s Advanced and Honors Oceanography classes recently explored the Lakes Bay Preserve in West Atlantic City. Students participated in seining activities, collecting and observing local marine life including fish, crabs, shrimp, and sea cucumbers before safely releasing them back into the estuary. Students also explored local ecology and history during a nature walk and conducted water, weather, and cloud data collection as part of NASA’s S’COOL citizen science program. It was a hands-on learning experience filled with discovery and fun.

HN Philosophy students recently participated in “Words of Wisdom Day,” connecting with preschool students, elementary students at Miller School, and residents at The Addison of Somers Place Senior Living Community. Students engaged in meaningful conversations about love, inspiration, kindness, and life lessons. Preschoolers shared that love comes from parents, pets, hugs, and friendship, while senior residents encouraged students to live with grace, compassion, and purpose. These intergenerational experiences created lasting memories for everyone involved.

Finally, please remember that the district will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Have a great weekend!
Ms. Carugno

Honors Philosophy

Words of Wisdom Day was something special. Ms. Leo-Xenidis’ Honors Philosophy students spent time with our preschoolers discussing life, love, happiness, and what truly matters most. The preschoolers shared that love is found in their parents and pets, and that life is made special by moms, sports, toys, hugs, and friends. Their advice? Always tell the truth. Be silly. Be happy. Maybe the best wisdom of all “pick people up when they fall.” A beautiful reminder that sometimes the simplest words leave the biggest impact.

CLIMATE AND CULTURE

May Staffulty of the Month

Congratulations to Kayla Moody for winning May's Staffulty of the Month!!

Kayla puts an incredible amount of time, effort, and dedication into her CP Physics classes. She consistently goes above and beyond for her students, and it is clear how much she cares through the strong rapport she has built with them throughout the year. Her classroom is engaging, welcoming, and filled with opportunities for students to learn physics in creative and meaningful ways.

One recent example of this was her roller coaster project, where students applied their knowledge of energy and motion to design and build working roller coasters with original creative themes. Students were able to utilize the scientific method, problem-solving skills, and collaboration to make their projects successful. The excitement and enthusiasm in the classroom were evident as students tested, redesigned, and improved their creations.

Kayla also went the extra mile by inviting other classes to come view and test the roller coasters. Both her students and the visiting students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One student even commented, “I have never seen students have so much fun in a science class.” That statement is a true testament to Kayla’s hard work, creativity, and dedication to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students genuinely enjoy learning.

Policy 5516- Remotely Activating Communication Devices and Electronic Devices

As we begin the new school year, we would like to take a moment to remind the school community of our district’s no cell phone policy during the school day. This decision was made with one clear purpose: to keep our students focused on learning, socializing face-to-face, and fully engaging in the classroom experience.
