Message from Ms. Carugno

Dear EHTHS Families,

Our WINGS Program partnered with Chick-fil-A to host the first-ever Senior Citizen Prom at the EHT Recreation Center. More than 90 seniors joined our students for an unforgettable evening of dancing, bingo, laughter, and friendship. With an Old Hollywood theme, the event featured Oscar awards, a Prom King and Queen, DJ Lambert, and special appearances from Marty and Charlie. A special thank you to Ms. Tucci and our Culinary Academy students for providing delicious cookies. The event was a tremendous success and one we hope becomes a lasting EHTHS tradition.

Our Academic Challenge Club recently competed in the Viking Quiz Bowl at ACHS. Students tested their knowledge in literature, science, history, sports, current events, and more. One of our teams placed 4th out of 18 competing teams.

The World Language Department is proud to recognize 15 students who will study abroad this summer through CIEE programs in Japan, Spain, France, Ireland, South Korea, China, and Italy. Together, these students earned more than $61,000 in scholarships to support their international experiences. Congratulations to Destiny Abreu, Miko Wong, Cayleen Huang, Yarelis Rivera Ramos, Alexander Cramer, Camilo Garces, Michael Reign, Matias Saavedra, Israella Lauture, Tasyana Zupic, Dasha Lopez Cruz, Goonjon Nag, Lily Lawas, Alissa Zhao, and Maya Zilovic.

More than 300 family and community members attended our Football Commitment Day Ceremony, where 31 incoming freshmen officially committed to joining the EHTHS football program. The event celebrated not only athletics, but also family, dedication, school pride, and the bright future of our Eagle football family.

Congratulations to our boys volleyball team on winning the Cape-Atlantic League Championship for the second consecutive year. We are incredibly proud of their continued success and the way they represent EHTHS. Check out their article from the Press of AC (linked).

Our music department also delivered a spectacular spring concert featuring Concert Choir, Treble Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Tonal Point, and aChoired Harmony. Under the direction of Mr. Tinsley, students wowed the audience with outstanding performances, including crowd-favorite Bon Jovi selections and impressive a cappella arrangements.

Students in ALAB recently welcomed entrepreneur Darryl Glover, who shared his journey as a sneaker collector and reseller, providing valuable insights into business, branding, and entrepreneurship.

Finally, our third annual Cornhole with the Cops event was bigger and better than ever. Thank you to the EHT Police Department, Atlantic County Sheriff's Office, Cornhole Craze, Ms. Olenik, Mr. Passante, and Ms. Smith for making this event such a success.

Prom and graduation are quickly approaching. Please be sure to review the important information.

Have a great weekend!
Ms. Carugno

Last Wednesday, May 20th , our WINGS Program teamed up with our local Chick-Fil-A to host the first Senior Citizen Prom at the EHT Recreation center. It was an amazing dance, where our high school students danced and played Bingo with over 90 seniors. The theme was Old Hollywood. We gave away Oscars, crowned a Prom King and Queen, had Pete Lambert as our DJ and Marty and Charlie were worked the room. Shout out to Ms. Tucci and the Culinary Academy for making some delicious cookies for our event. It was so special and this event will definitely become a new tradition for our high school.

Student Scholarship Award

We are incredibly proud to celebrate senior, Monserrat Mendoza Vicente, who was recently honored at an awards ceremony presented by NJTESOL/NJBE. Monserrat was one of only two students statewide selected to receive the Pedro J. Rodriguez Scholarship, a distinction awarded to multilingual/bilingual high school seniors pursuing higher education at a college or university in New Jersey. This remarkable achievement reflects her dedication, talent, and hard work. We could not be more excited to celebrate this well-deserved honor with her!

Ceramics

Art students in Mr. Elia and Ms. Powell's EHTNJ - Egg Harbor Township High School ceramics classes had a great time and learned a lot exploring the Jawbone Gallery in Cape May! If you haven't been there, it's a really cool art gallery that showcases local, regional, and international artists with a focus on craftsmanship, narrative, and unique perspectives, often featuring themed exhibitions! Thanks again Mr. Elia and Ms. Powell for giving our students this opportunity and as always, thanks to our awesome EHT Schools - Transportation dept. for getting our students there and back quickly and safely!

Hey EHT check out EHT Living this for a great story on Carter Chew and Eva Nye!

Meet EHTHS’s ‘Dynamic Duo’ in this month’s graduation issue!

Valedictorian Carter Chew and Honors College-bound Eva Nye have spent high school leading mock trial teams, presenting research, performing at Carnegie Hall, competing nationally and advocating for student voices at Board of Education meetings.
But beneath the résumés is a deeper story about identity, responsibility, and finding purpose.
We wish them both the very best of luck as they head into their future later this month!

CLIMATE AND CULTURE

May Staffulty of the Month

Congratulations to Kayla Moody for winning May's Staffulty of the Month!!

Kayla puts an incredible amount of time, effort, and dedication into her CP Physics classes. She consistently goes above and beyond for her students, and it is clear how much she cares through the strong rapport she has built with them throughout the year. Her classroom is engaging, welcoming, and filled with opportunities for students to learn physics in creative and meaningful ways.

One recent example of this was her roller coaster project, where students applied their knowledge of energy and motion to design and build working roller coasters with original creative themes. Students were able to utilize the scientific method, problem-solving skills, and collaboration to make their projects successful. The excitement and enthusiasm in the classroom were evident as students tested, redesigned, and improved their creations.

Kayla also went the extra mile by inviting other classes to come view and test the roller coasters. Both her students and the visiting students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One student even commented, “I have never seen students have so much fun in a science class.” That statement is a true testament to Kayla’s hard work, creativity, and dedication to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students genuinely enjoy learning.

Policy 5516- Remotely Activating Communication Devices and Electronic Devices

As we begin the new school year, we would like to take a moment to remind the school community of our district’s no cell phone policy during the school day. This decision was made with one clear purpose: to keep our students focused on learning, socializing face-to-face, and fully engaging in the classroom experience.

COMMUNITY PRIDE

Memorial Day Parade

Great turnout this morning at the Annual Memorial Day Parade as we came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We were proudly led by our Marching Band and AFJROTC, with EHT teachers and staff handing out beach balls along the parade route. Our football team also joined in the festivities, along with everyone’s favorite therapy dogs, Charlie and Marty.
