A Message From Our Principal

It is great to see that everyone is settling nicely into the new school year.  Here is a look at what’s been happening and what’s coming up.

One of the highlights of our week was the 2026 Communicative and Adaptive Surf Trip, and it was truly an incredible day!  With warm water, a light breeze, and perfect waves, our students enjoyed an unforgettable experience on the beach in Longport.  For some students, the day brought the excitement of catching their very first wave, while others picked up right where they left off last year and continued building their surfing skills. For those who preferred to stay on the sand, there was plenty of fun cheering on friends and enjoying a beautiful day at the beach.  Experiences like this are only possible because of an amazing team of people.  A special thank you to Mr. Mittelman, Mr. Platt, Mr. Keim, our dedicated staff, and the Longport Beach Patrol for providing the surfboards, support, safety, and hospitality that made the day so memorable.  We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this experience possible.  The smiles said it all and our students and staff are already looking forward to hitting the waves again next year!

This morning, JROTC led a 9/11 Memorial Flag Raising Ceremony as our school community paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered the call that day.  Our JROTC cadets conducted the ceremony with tremendous respect and pride providing our students and staff with an important opportunity for reflection and remembrance.  As the American flag was raised, we were reminded not only of the tragedy of that day, but also of the strength, unity, and resilience that followed.  We are proud of our cadets for ensuring that the lessons and legacy of September 11 are never forgotten. 

Don’t forget that Picture Day is right around the corner on September 22-24. Families will receive a personal link by email within seven days to preview images online before making a purchase, making the process easier than ever.  The Health and Physical Education staff have told their students exactly which day their pictures will be taken.  For questions or assistance with ordering, contact Lors Customer Service at 908.964.8200, email customerservice@lorsstudio.com.  Additionally, the Class of 2027 group photo will be taken on Friday, September  16 on the football field.

We are also looking forward to welcoming families to Back to School Night on Thursday, September 17, at 6:30 p.m.  This is always a special evening that gives parents the chance to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and feel connected to the school community.

#Day1

#Day1: Be an Upstander. Make Respect the Standard.

Our school is proud to continue our commitment to #Day1, an anti-bullying initiative created by the Tyler Clementi Foundation. #Day1 is designed to set clear expectations for how we treat one another and to empower students to help create a school community built on respect, inclusion, and accountability.

As part of #Day1, students are asked to take the Upstander Pledge, demonstrating their commitment to stand against bullying, harassment, humiliation, and other behaviors that cause harm to others.

Taking the pledge is more than simply agreeing to a set of words. It represents a commitment to put those words into action.

Throughout the school year, we ask our students to remember what it means to be an Upstander:

- Treat others with dignity and respect—even when you disagree.
- Do not participate in, encourage, or provide an audience for bullying or harmful behavior.
- Be mindful of your words, actions, social media posts, messages, and other online interactions.
- Speak up or seek help from a trusted adult when you witness someone being mistreated.
- Include rather than isolate, support rather than embarrass, and think about the impact your choices may have on others.
- Take responsibility for your behavior and make choices that contribute positively to our school community.

#Day1 doesn't end after Day 1. The pledge represents the behavioral standard we expect our students to carry with them every day—in our classrooms, hallways, activities, athletic events, online spaces, and throughout our community.

Be respectful. Be responsible. Be an Upstander. Every day.

Getting Started With ParentSquare

We are excited to announce that the Egg Harbor Township School District is launching ParentSquare as our new district-wide communication platform. Fall Drama Production Information and Audition Meeting - CLUE

This year's Fall Drama Production will be the comedy-murder mystery CLUE.

We are holding an information meeting on Tuesday evening, September 15, at 7 pm - 8 pm in the EHTHS Auditorium. All students who are interested in acting or stage-tech crew and their parents / guardians should attend to learn about the Fall Season.

Kevin has gone out of his way to share and collaborate with me. Although we're not in an assigned PLT, Kevin's eagerness to help me keep the AP Research program going is a testament to his character and integrity as an educator. I am grateful to call him a mentor and a colleague.

Policy 5516- Remotely Activating Communication Devices and Electronic Devices


As we begin the new school year, we would like to take a moment to remind the school community of our district’s no cell phone policy during the school day. This decision was made with one clear purpose: to keep our students focused on learning, socializing face-to-face, and fully engaging in the classroom experience.

World Language Bilingual Coordinators

Need help communicating with parents? No worries, the World Languages Department is here to support you! Our bilingual coordinators are available to assist with communication in Spanish, Chinese, Bengali, Urdu, and Hindi to ensure that every family stays informed and connected. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the coordinators listed on the attached flyer if you need assistance. Additionally, if you have any questions about reaching out to parents in any language, don't hesitate to reach out and ask Dr. Schreiner. ParentSquare will be a huge resource for us, but sometimes there are situations where you just want/need someone to communicate with a family for you.

What if I do not have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account? Send an email to icportal@eht.k12.nj.us with the parent/guardian full name, students full name, students school and grade level, students birthdate, home and/or cell number and the parent/guardians email address.

Food Service Information for the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back! We hope you and your family had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. As we prepare for the new school year, enclosed are the forms and instructions needed to complete the Federal & State School Breakfast, Lunch, and Summer EBT application.
Please remember that only one application should be completed per household, listing all family members. Foster children require a separate application. Families also have the option to apply online at www.myschoolapps.com.

The expansion of the Working Class Families' Anti-Hunger Act has increased the income eligibility guidelines, allowing more families to qualify for meal benefits. To ensure your child's meal benefit status is in place for the first day of school, please submit your application online or return the completed paper application as soon as possible, preferably before the first day of school.

Our MySchoolApps online application is now available for the 2026-2027 school year. We encourage all families to complete their application today.
 
Please note that any outstanding meal charges or credit balances from previous school years will carry over into the 2026-2027 school year. Families can manage student meal accounts through www.myschoolbucks.com using Heartland's online payment system. This service allows you to:
  • Make meal account deposits 
  • View account activity and purchases 
  • Monitor spending 
  • Set up low-balance email reminders 
To help avoid negative balances, we recommend maintaining at least a two-week meal balance in your child's account. If you do not wish for your child to purchase snacks using their meal account, please send a written note to your school's cafeteria.
Please remember that all negative meal balances are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. If your child's eligibility for free or reduced-price meals changes after October 14, 2026, you will be responsible for any meal charges incurred after that date.

If your child has a food allergy or requires a dietary accommodation, please provide a physician's note to your school's cafeteria. The information will be entered into our system to help ensure your child's dietary needs are met and will be available to cafeteria staff each time your child makes a purchase.
If you have any questions regarding the meal application process, the School Breakfast Program, the National School Lunch Program, or Summer EBT, please contact Kristin Doherty in the Food Service Office at 609-383-1464.

School breakfast will begin on September 8th and will be available free of charge to all students.

School Meals Application

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the School Meals and Summer EBT application. Completing the application helps ensure that your family receives all of the benefits and assistance you may be eligible for. Even if you have completed an application last year, please make sure to submit a new application for the upcoming 26-27 school year.
