#Day1: Be an Upstander. Make Respect the Standard.

Our school is proud to continue our commitment to #Day1, an anti-bullying initiative created by the Tyler Clementi Foundation. #Day1 is designed to set clear expectations for how we treat one another and to empower students to help create a school community built on respect, inclusion, and accountability.

As part of #Day1, students are asked to take the Upstander Pledge, demonstrating their commitment to stand against bullying, harassment, humiliation, and other behaviors that cause harm to others.

Taking the pledge is more than simply agreeing to a set of words. It represents a commitment to put those words into action.

Throughout the school year, we ask our students to remember what it means to be an Upstander:

- Treat others with dignity and respect—even when you disagree.

- Do not participate in, encourage, or provide an audience for bullying or harmful behavior.

- Be mindful of your words, actions, social media posts, messages, and other online interactions.

- Speak up or seek help from a trusted adult when you witness someone being mistreated.

- Include rather than isolate, support rather than embarrass, and think about the impact your choices may have on others.

- Take responsibility for your behavior and make choices that contribute positively to our school community.

#Day1 doesn't end after Day 1. The pledge represents the behavioral standard we expect our students to carry with them every day—in our classrooms, hallways, activities, athletic events, online spaces, and throughout our community.

Be respectful. Be responsible. Be an Upstander. Every day.

Mr. Swift and Mr. Santos, along with seniors Uchenna Uduma, Sierra Tolbert and Francesca Badyna, presented “AI Taskforce” information to the district administrators. They described for us the issues they addressed during their three week summer sessions which included discussing present day issues of AI, the actual creation of Chatbots that will be used for the EHTHS Program of Students and Student Handbook, and guest speakers. Additionally, students developed a National College Explorer app. It was a tremendous presentation!

Kevin has gone out of his way to share and collaborate with me. Although we're not in an assigned PLT, Kevin's eagerness to help me keep the AP Research program going is a testament to his character and integrity as an educator. I am grateful to call him a mentor and a colleague.

Need help communicating with parents? No worries, the World Languages Department is here to support you! Our bilingual coordinators are available to assist with communication in Spanish, Chinese, Bengali, Urdu, and Hindi to ensure that every family stays informed and connected. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the coordinators listed on the attached flyer if you need assistance. Additionally, if you have any questions about reaching out to parents in any language, don't hesitate to reach out and ask Dr. Schreiner. ParentSquare will be a huge resource for us, but sometimes there are situations where you just want/need someone to communicate with a family for you.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back! We hope you and your family had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. As we prepare for the new school year, enclosed are the forms and instructions needed to complete the Federal & State School Breakfast, Lunch, and Summer EBT application.

Please remember that only one application should be completed per household, listing all family members. Foster children require a separate application. Families also have the option to apply online at www.myschoolapps.com.

The expansion of the Working Class Families' Anti-Hunger Act has increased the income eligibility guidelines, allowing more families to qualify for meal benefits. To ensure your child's meal benefit status is in place for the first day of school, please submit your application online or return the completed paper application as soon as possible, preferably before the first day of school.

Our MySchoolApps online application is now available for the 2026-2027 school year. We encourage all families to complete their application today.

 

Please note that any outstanding meal charges or credit balances from previous school years will carry over into the 2026-2027 school year. Families can manage student meal accounts through www.myschoolbucks.com using Heartland's online payment system. This service allows you to:

To help avoid negative balances, we recommend maintaining at least a two-week meal balance in your child's account. If you do not wish for your child to purchase snacks using their meal account, please send a written note to your school's cafeteria.

Please remember that all negative meal balances are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. If your child's eligibility for free or reduced-price meals changes after October 14, 2026, you will be responsible for any meal charges incurred after that date.

If your child has a food allergy or requires a dietary accommodation, please provide a physician's note to your school's cafeteria. The information will be entered into our system to help ensure your child's dietary needs are met and will be available to cafeteria staff each time your child makes a purchase.

If you have any questions regarding the meal application process, the School Breakfast Program, the National School Lunch Program, or Summer EBT, please contact Kristin Doherty in the Food Service Office at 609-383-1464.

School breakfast will begin on September 8th and will be available free of charge to all students.

We encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the School Meals and Summer EBT application. Completing the application helps ensure that your family receives all of the benefits and assistance you may be eligible for. Even if you have completed an application last year, please make sure to submit a new application for the upcoming 26-27 school year.
